The Philippine Bank of Communications or PBCOM was established in September 1939 in Binondo, Manila. It was one of the first non-American foreign commercial banks to operate in the country, being a branch of Taiwan's Bank of Communications.
Like many other banks during the Japanese occupation, PBCOM ceased its operations during World War II. Once the dust had settled, PBCOM reinstated all its pre-war accounts even if it wasn't required by law. This only underscored PBCOM's commitment to their mission of providing people-centric and results-oriented service.
Some of PBCOM's milestones include the development of the now-iconic PBCOM Tower in Ayala Avenue, Makati, in 1995; the acquisition of the 19-branch rural bank Consumer Bank in 2000; and the launch of POP (PBCOM Online Platform) and PBCOMobile in 2017 and 2020, respectively.
Driven by their values of passion, responsiveness, integrity, dynamism, and excellence, PBCOM's vision is to become the country's preferred and trusted financial partner by nurturing relationships and enriching lives.
PBCOM offers a variety of both corporate and commercial banking services. These include trust and wealth management, transaction banking, regular deposit and time deposit, commercial loans, SME loans, as well as escrow agency services.
The bank also has digital platforms that include the above-mentioned POP to help customers manage their accounts using more convenient means. Meanwhile, PBCOMobile is a digital-only platform where you can open a new PBCOM account using only the app. It also allows you to deposit checks virtually, manage your debit card, and schedule recurring payments or money transfers.
In addition to these digital services, PBCOM also tied up with Maya to enable account holders to cash in conveniently and securely. All you have to do is to register your Maya account through PBCOM Online Banking so you can top up your Maya account and use it for different kinds of cashless, contactless transactions.
If you don't have the Maya app yet, you can get it for free from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Huawei App Gallery. After creating an account, don't forget to upgrade to enjoy more perks and rewards.
You've got questions? We've got answers.
Before you can proceed with PayMaya cash in transactions via PBCOM, you should first register your account via PBCOM online banking. Just go to the “Manage Accounts” menu and then choose the “Register Third Party Accounts - Other Banks” option. From there, follow the instructions to register your PayMaya account.
After successfully registering, log in to the app and then choose the “Cash In” icon on the home page. Then, on the list of cash in partner channels, tap the PBCOM icon. You’ll then see a step-by-step process on how to use the PBCOM online banking portal to add money to your PayMaya account. After you’ve successfully completed the transaction, you’ll receive a text message to confirm the cash-in transaction.
Cashing in via PBCOM offers plenty of advantages. First, the money will be instantly credited to your PayMaya account. This means you can immediately use the app’s features to experience a new level of cashless convenience. Using digital cash-in methods also minimizes the need for physical contact and cash-handling. This is especially crucial if there’s a public health emergency, natural calamities, or other similar situations.
Yes. There is a 2% cash in fee for every time you use your PBCOM account to add money to your PayMaya account. Don’t worry, though, because this cash in fee will be refunded as long as you have not reached your monthly Php 10,000.00 free cash in threshold.
In case you have already reached the threshold for the month, the 2% cash in fee will serve as the convenience fee. This amount will not be refunded to your PayMaya account.
The 2% fee is the service charge you pay for the convenience of adding money through PayMaya’s digital and over-the-counter cash-in channels. The amount will be refunded to your PayMaya account on the following day, provided that you have not exceeded the Php 10,000.00 threshold for the month.
PayMaya encourages the usage of digital cash-in channels such as mobile banking and online banking. These methods are not only faster and more convenient but also safer in many situations.
After you have registered your PayMaya account as a third party account through PBCOM’s online portal, you can now start adding money by following the steps below:
Note that the minimum cash-in amount via PBCOM Online Banking is Php 500, with a maximum of Php 10,000.00 per transaction.
PayMaya’s cash in fee is fixed at 2% per successful transaction. The amount will be deducted from the total cash amount to be credited to your PayMaya account. If your total cash in amount for the month is below or exactly Php 10,000.00, the 2% fee will be refunded within 24 hours to your PayMaya account.
For a sample computation, let’s say you want to cash in Php 1,000.00 to your PayMaya account via PBCOM. This means that 2% of Php 1,000.00 or Php 20.00 will be the cash in fee.
Php 1,000.00 x 2% = Php 20.00
Php 1,000 - 20 = Php 980.00
In short, you will receive Php 980.00 in your PayMaya account if the amount you will cash in is Php 1,000.00. The Php 20.00 will be credited back to you on the following day as long as you have not exceeded the Php 10,000.00 cash-in threshold for the month on the day that you cashed in. If you are over this limit, the Php 20.00 cash-in fee will no longer be refunded.
PayMaya has a “Recent Activities” section on the bottom part of the app’s home page. You can tap on “View All” to see all the latest transactions, which include cash-ins with the amount credited to your account and any other fees that you have paid.
If you notice any discrepancies, you can get in touch with PayMaya’s customer support team.

If you have a regular PayMaya account, your total cash in limit is Php 50,000.00. If you already reached the Php 10,000.00 threshold, you can still cash in up to Php 40,000.00 but this will already incur the 2% fee.
You can increase the monthly total limit to Php 100,000.00 if you upgrade your PayMaya account. Visit this link if you’re interested in upgrading your account to enjoy more perks. Of course, PBCOM has its own transaction limits so keep these in mind as well.
Simply follow the steps below to track your monthly limits:
Your daily limits are reset the following day, while your monthly limits reset on the first day of the following month. Make it a habit to check your daily and monthly limits to avoid paying extra fees.
As long as you haven’t reached the threshold for the month, the cash in fee will be refunded to your PayMaya account after 24 hours. If you have already reached the threshold, you will no longer receive a refund. You will be eligible for refunds again the following month, immediately after the limits are reset on the first day.
Do note that there are many PayMaya cash in partners that don’t charge convenience fees. If you add money to your PayMaya account through these channels, then you won’t be qualified for any refunds because there are no service charges.
PayMaya makes every effort to ensure that the cash in fees are refunded to qualified accounts within 24 hours. If you have not received it within that time, you may reach us through the following customer support channels:
