The business was born out of the prescience of its founder, Charles Lazarus, who foresaw the baby boom that would take place after the end of the Second World War. Eventually, Toys “R” Us became a behemoth of the retail industry, dominating the world of toys for years to come. In the Philippines, the very first Toys “R” Us store opened in Robinsons Galleria in 2006. A sub-licensee of the Hong Kong-based Li & Fung Group, the brand found fertile ground in the country, which was then beginning to emerge as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Presently, Toys “R” Us Philippines operates more than 40 standalone stores and more than 50 pop-up stores around the country.
