5 Ways Maya Will Transform the Way You Send Money

Millions of Filipinos are now enjoying the benefits of sending money online. It’s not only quick and easy, but it’s also accessible and safe. The latter two are especially important during crisis situations such as natural calamities or health emergencies.

Some of the ways that you can send money online include banking apps. However, many Filipinos are still unbanked for a variety of reasons. In this case, one of the best options is to use e-wallets of online payment solutions like Maya.

Maya will transform the way you send money in the Philippines. Indeed, once you’ve experienced how convenient it is to send money with Maya, you might never want to send money any other way again!

Of course, the first thing you have to do is to create your Maya account. Simply download the app, input the required information, and wait for the verification code. Once you get it, enter the verification code in the Maya app and you’re ready to go. You should also upgrade your account as soon as possible so you can enjoy more features.

That being said, here are a few amazing ways that Maya will change your experience in sending money:

Multiple Ways to Send

When you send money through banking apps or pera padala agents, you usually have only one or two methods available. With Maya, you have four methods to choose from. First, you can send money to another Maya account. Simply input the mobile number in the corresponding field and the amount you want to send.

You can also use Maya to send money to a Smart Padala account. For this method, you will need the 16-digit account number of the Smart Padala agent. This is what you will input instead in the “Name, Mobile, or Account Number” field. Then, just input the amount you want to send and complete the transaction. Make sure to take note of the reference number and give it to the recipient as proof of transaction.

The third option is to send money to a bank account. Once you open your Maya app, there will be a “Bank Transfer” icon. Tap it and choose the bank, then input the amount you want to send and the recipient’s details.

Finally, Maya also lets you send money to Palawan Pawnshop. This is a great option if you want to send money to people who don’t have Maya or bank accounts. (Do note that as of this writing, the service is temporarily unavailable.)

More Than 40 Local Bank Partners

Maya currently has more than 40 local bank partners where you can send money. This is especially helpful for sending money to more remote areas, where major banks may not have any branches. Of course, Maya is also partnered with the country’s most well-known banking institutions. These include Asia United Bank, BDO, BPI, Chinabank and Chinabank Savings, Maybank, PNB, PSBank, Robinsons Bank, and Security Bank.

Near-Instant Money Transfer

When you transfer from one bank to an account in a different bank, it will usually take a few days before the amount reflects. This can be a problem if the recipient needs the money immediately for paying bills or emergency purposes.

With Maya, this won’t be an issue. The transfer will be near-instant, just like when you make intra-bank transactions. This applies if you send money to another Maya account and to bank accounts. For Smart Padala, the recipient may have to wait for an hour or so.

Highly Secure Transactions

One of the issues that some people have about digital transactions in general is security. After all, there is no shortage of “horror stories” in social media about accounts that got hacked and subsequently drained of money.

However, these stories are exceptions and not the norm. There are plenty of safeguards in place to protect consumers who use e-wallets like Maya. Chief among these security measures is that Maya is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. You’ll also receive OTPs to confirm your transactions, even if you’re going to send only a small amount.

Another layer of security is that you can only send money up to five times in one day, with a maximum amount per transaction of Php 20,000. This helps prevent any suspicious activity.

Easy to Add Money

Of course, before you can send money, you have to have money in your account. Luckily, Maya has hundreds of Add Money partners across the country. You can load your account through 7-11 and MiniStop branches, Robinsons Supermarket, Palawan Pawnshop, and more.

You can also link your bank account to your Maya account so you don’t have to leave the comfort and security of your home. Remember that you can load up to Php 100,000 per month if you have an upgraded account and up to Php 50,000 for a non-upgraded account.

Technology has truly made a lot of things more convenient. Thanks to applications like Maya, you don’t have to worry about lining up and filling out forms. With just a few taps, you can already send money quickly and securely.
