Send money to loved ones instantly without leaving the Messenger app. Here’s how:

Step 1: Link your Maya account

Open a chatbox with Maya > Click “Menu” > Select “My Money”

Select “Link an Account” if you already have a Maya account. If not, you can choose to create an account directly from Messenger.

Let’s say you already have a Maya account. Enter your credentials to link your account.

Allow Messenger to access your Maya account.

Receive a chat message that your Maya account has been successfully linked to Messenger.

Step 2:  Check your Maya balance 

This step is optional if you’re sure that there’s enough credits in your Maya wallet for the amount you’re planning to send. Either way, this is how you can check your Maya balance through the Messenger app!

Open a chatbox with Maya > Click “Menu” > Select “My Money”

Select “Check Balance”

Your Maya balance will be prompted via chat.

Note that anyone who can access your Messenger app can view your Maya balance. For this, it’s always more secure not to let other people borrow your mobile phone, more so let them know your Facebook password. For money transfers, bills payment, and mobile load purchases, Messenger will always ask for your Facebook password to confirm that you approve of each transaction.

Step 3: Send money to your Messenger contacts!

You’re all set to send money via Maya on Messenger! But first, a few reminders:

• You can only send money to your Messenger contacts. You don’t necessarily have to be Facebook friends, but you must be connected via Messenger.
• Your Maya account must be upgraded to send money.
• Your recipient doesn’t need to have an upgraded Maya account to receive money. It’s also alright if they don’t have a Maya account yet. Recipients can create their own Maya account via Messenger to claim the money you sent.
• If the amount you sent is not claimed within 7 days, it will be credited back to your account automatically.

That’s it! Let’s begin.

Open a chatbox with your recipient and press the “+” button at the lower-left.

Tap “Payments”

Enter the amount you want to transfer.

You can also include a short and sweet message along with the money transfer.

Enter your Facebook password to confirm the transaction.

A confirmation message will be sent via chat and SMS.

The transaction will also automatically reflect on your Maya app. Tap “View Details” to see your Maya transaction ID.

Congratulations, you’ve sent money via Maya on Messenger!
