In the past, paying government offices what they’re due is an activity that took hours of falling in line. Clients had to set aside an entire day or two just so they can complete their transactions and get the documents they need from public offices. While this scenario still accurately reflects the day-to-day experience in some public offices, there are also many government agencies that have taken serious efforts to modernize their services and make their payment channels more efficient and responsive to the needs of the public.

Unfortunately, not a lot of Filipinos are aware that they can fulfill their obligations to the government without stepping out of their homes, using up their work leaves, or taking a break from running their business. These days, you can easily contribute to government-mandated funds, settle your taxes, and pay for various government services through your phone or on the internet. Many government agencies are keen on making it easy for Filipinos to pay their dues by adopting cashless transaction options.

Just like how online shops can accept digital payments by installing Maya eCommerce Plug-ins on their websites, many government offices have also added cashless transactions to the payment options they accept. In many cases, they don’t only rely on their own web infrastructure, they also use APIs and software development kits to support relevant third-party technologies.

If you’re a client and you need to complete transactions with the following government agencies, you can easily do so by settling your bills using the Maya app, the government agency’s own app, or their own website.

Social Security System (SSS)

The SSS is a state-run insurance program that offers protection to its beneficiaries, which is made up of workers that belong to the private, professional, and informal sectors. Business owners, freelancers, non-working spouses, and other self-employed individuals who adequately meet the standard for voluntary members can pay their SSS contributions through the SSS app. To do this, simply download the SSS mobile app on your phone, login using your My.SSS account credentials, and choose to pay with your Maya account. This method charges a relatively smaller convenience fee compared to the other payment methods available on the SSS app. Paying using debit or credit cards, for example, requires you to pay a fixed amount plus a percentage of your total payment.

Pag-IBIG Fund

The Home Development Mutual Fund, more commonly known as the Pag-IBIG Fund, is a government-controlled corporation with the goal of helping Filipinos save for and finance affordable housing options. Pag-IBIG Fund members can remit their savings and pay for their loans using the Maya app. To do this, one simply has to select the Pay Bills button and choose the icon for Government. Here, OFWs and local employees can settle their short-term and housing loans and contribute to membership and MP2 savings programs at the click of a button. Just choose the exact program or loan type that you want to pay, and input your details to complete the transaction. It’s that easy.

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)

Most employees and consumers don’t have to worry about calculating their taxes regularly. If you own a business or are a freelancer, however, you need to be mindful of how you do your tax calculations and pay your dues before the deadline. The good news is that you don’t have to fall in line at the closest BIR office just to make sure that you’ve settled your dues; you can do it on the Maya app. All you need to do is calculate how much you need to pay, open your Maya app, and carefully input the information you need to complete the transaction. Among the details you need to provide are your TIN, TIN Branch Code, RDO Code, Form Series, and Tax Type. If you have a bigger operation, you might need to get the services of an accountant or an accounting firm to work out your taxes for you.

Department of Trade and Industry - Business Name Registration System (DTI-BNRS)

If you’re a budding entrepreneur, there’s no need for you to head out of your home to register your business name with DTI. You can apply for a new business name on the DTI-BNRS website and pay for the registration through the department’s various payment partners. PMaya has partnered with the agency, enabling merchants and business owners to settle their registration fees on the Maya app. After filing your application, open the Maya app, input your account number and the amount you need to pay, and you’re done.

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

Again, for budding entrepreneurs, you need to register your business or practice with the SEC to legitimize your operations. This, in turn, enables your SME to issue receipts and trade financial assets. At the same time, registering your business with the SEC ensures that your enterprise is able to make the most out of the laws that are meant to protect businesses in the Philippines. Complete your registration by using the online checkout option on the SEC’s website, which is powered by Maya. You can Pay by Maya by providing your registered mobile number to settle your bills upon checking out.
