7 Steps To Help You Accomplish Your New Year’s Resolutions

The first few days of January are usually dedicated to going over the new goals you intend to accomplish for the year. Once you’ve listed your resolutions, the real work begins–sticking to them or completing the until the end of the year. 

Here are easy steps to help you be on track in achieving your resolutions:

 Step 1: Reflect on how you feel about your resolutions

For every item on your list, double check on how you feel about them. How do you feel when you think about going to the gym or starting a new diet?

If it makes you unhappy, replace it with something more doable. When you set goals, always consider your genuine happiness.

 Step 2: Phrase them in terms of concrete actions

There must be an action plan for every resolution on your list.

 Step 3: Remind yourself constantly

More often than not, our resolutions usually get lost and forgotten after a month or two into the new year.

This way, you can see the things that you need to do and stick to it.

 Step 4: Remain firm and focused

After being constantly reminded, it is important to focus on the goal. Twelve months is a very long time and there will be temptations along the way.

You might get sidetracked occasionally, and that’s fine. Just focus on sticking your goal on a daily basis until it becomes a habit!

 Step 5: Resist laziness

Being lazy is one of the most notorious obstacles in accomplishing resolutions. Some goals are not instant and they take time to get done.

You have all 12 months to yourself, so practice patience and wait for the results. Don’t give up!

 Step 6: Remember your purpose

Whenever you are on the verge of giving up or feeling lazy, go back to your ultimate purpose. Why did you list down that particular resolution in the first place?

If your resolution is to go to the gym, then your purpose could be to lose weight or gain muscles. Once you remember your goal, it makes it easier to stick to it.

 Step 7: Reward yourself for every accomplishment

As an added encouragement and to boost your willingness to finish the task, include a reward for every goal you accomplish. It makes it all worthwhile if at the end, you get something you truly deserve.
