Developed by Maya Philippines (formerly Smart eMoney, Inc.), the digital financial services unit of PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), Maya is an online payment app that generates your own instant virtual prepaid Visa on the app which you can then use to subscribe to Netflix.

All you have to do is to go to the Google Play Store or App Store, download the Maya mobile app, and register with any mobile number. Once you have a Maya account, you’ll see your own card number on the app as well as your security code or CVV, and the expiration date–all the details you need for making online payments.

Before you can use your Maya account, you must first load it up at Maya Load-Up Centers which can be located in TouchPay kiosks in selected Ministop branches, 7-Eleven Cliqq kiosks, SM Business Centers, and Robinson’s Business Centers. Once you have reloaded your Maya account with funds, you can then go ahead and use it to pay for your Netflix subscription. As Maya is a prepaid Visa card, Netflix will just deduct a minimum amount equivalent to one month subscription to validate your payment account. Maya can be used for recurrent payments such as Netflix, just be sure to reload your account in time for the next billing period.

“With Maya, we’re opening the doors to the digital life to Filipinos who don’t have credit cards by enabling access to services such as Netflix,” said Paolo Azzola, co-Chief Operating Officer at Maya Philippines.
