Maya Leads Digital Government Payments with Pag-IBIG Recognition

Maya, the #1 Payments Processor in the Philippines, continues to lead digital finance in the public sector, earning Pag-IBIG’s Top Digital Payment Platform recognition for the third consecutive year.

At the recent Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s Report event, Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta highlighted how digital payments are improving financial accessibility for Pag-IBIG’s 16 million members, making home financing, savings, and loan programs more seamless.

“Through digital payments, we are making our savings, housing and short-term loan programs more accessible and convenient for millions of Filipino workers. With Maya’s support, we are able to bring to life our commitment to provide our members with ‘Isang Pag-IBIG na Kasama sa Pagtupad ng Pangarap.’ By providing a seamless way to pay and save with Pag-IBIG, we are empowering our more than 16 million members to build a better and more financially secure future,” Acosta said.

As it moves away from cash-based and manual processing, Maya has become a key partner, handling the largest volume of digital payments transactions through Virtual Pag-IBIG, including member contributions, loan repayments, and savings via Modified Pag-IBIG II Savings. This recognition cements Maya’s role as the Payments Backbone of the Philippines.

"The Filipino citizen demands digital ease and convenience, and Maya partners with government agencies to answer the public's clamor,” said Orlando B. Vea, CEO and Founder of Maya and Co-Founder of Maya Bank. “By providing a secure, scalable, and seamless payments platform, we are not just improving efficiency—we are redefining how millions of Filipinos access essential services. This recognition from Pag-IBIG underscores our commitment to building a fully digital, financially inclusive Philippines.”

Driving Digital Transformation in Government

The Marcos administration has made digital finance a priority, directing agencies like Pag-IBIG, SSS, and PhilHealth to modernize payment systems. The shift aims to improve efficiency, security, and transparency while expanding access to Filipinos in remote areas.

Maya’s platform enables agencies to streamline collections and disbursements through e-wallets, QR payments, bank transfers, and card transactions. This speeds up transactions and ensures financial accountability.

Maya’s infrastructure is built for high-volume, real-time processing with AI-driven fraud detection and risk management. By automating payments, agencies cut costs and reduce transaction times, allowing them to focus on service delivery.

Expanding Access Through Digital Payments

Beyond Pag-IBIG, Maya serves other government agencies, digitizing tax collections, social service disbursements, and public-sector financing. As the government pushes for cashless transactions, Maya is well-positioned to power the next phase of digital financial infrastructure and build a more efficient, transparent, and financially inclusive system.

Over the past decade, digital payments have surged from 1% of total transactions in 2013 to 53% in 2023, driven by increased adoption among consumers, businesses, and government agencies, according to the latest Payments Measurement Report by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
