GREATER CONVENIENCE FOR MCDONALD’S CUSTOMERS WITH MAYA. Customers of McDonald’s can expect a more convenient way to pay for their favorite treats with the help of Maya. The quick-service restaurant chain is rolling out Mastercard and Visa card payments in select branches nationwide, with QR payments for select McCafe branches and online card payments for McCelebrations Birthday Party reservations and McDelivery rolling out soon. Present during the official launch of the partnership at a McDonald’s restaurant in Taguig City were (from left) McDonald’s Chief Happiness Officer Ronald McDonald; McDonald’s Philippine President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang; Maya Philippines President and CEO Orlando B. Vea; and PLDT, Smart, Voyager, and Maya Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

McDonald’s customers in the Philippines can expect a more convenient way to pay for their McDonald’s favorites as the quick-service restaurant chain starts to roll out over-the-counter Mastercard and Visa card transactions in select branches through a collaboration with Maya Philippines.

Over 40 McDonald’s restaurants nationwide have already begun accepting card payments for all types of Mastercard and Visa credit, debit, and prepaid cards, including Maya Visa cards and Smart Mastercard.

To make things even more convenient for McDonald’s customers, the company will also soon be accepting Maya QR payments in its McCafe BGC Arts Center and McCafe Tagaytay Calamba stores, with more stores accepting QR-based payments in the coming months. This means customers only have to open the Maya app, scan the QR code displayed at the cashier area inside participating stores, and make quick and convenient payments using only their smartphones.

Customers can also look forward to being able to book and pay for their McCelebrations Birthday Party online as well as pay for their orders via McDelivery very soon.

Convenient card and QR payments

“Our goal is to continuously provide our customers with a convenient and feel-good restaurant experience, which is why we are committed in seeking out innovations that can deliver this to them. Through our partnership with Maya, our customers will now have a cashless payment option to make ordering their favorite McDonald’s meals more convenient,” said McDonald’s President and CEO, Mr. Kenneth S. Yang

“This is digital technology at its most convenient, and we are working toward enabling more partners like McDonald’s to further build a ‘cashless’ ecosystem all around the country,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman at PLDT, Smart, and Maya. “We’re starting with McDonald’s today, but we envision a future where most of our transactions will be carried out with the help of a Maya account.”

Getting a Maya account is easy. All one has to do is to download the app or start a chat with @MayaOfficial in FB Messenger to be able to create an account. Loading up their Maya accounts is also hassle-free, given the ubiquity of over 15,000 top-up facilities nationwide. These include Robinsons Department Store Business Centers, SM Business Services, Cebuana Lhuillier, ExpressPay, TouchPay kiosks, 7-Eleven, ExpressPay, Palawan Pawnshops, Shopwise, Wellcome, 2Go outlets, Petron stations along NLEX, and Smart Padala centers down to sari-sari stores in grassroots communities, and Unionbank ATMs.

Toward a cashless Philippines

“McDonald’s is a well-loved brand that we are glad to be partnering with to provide Filipinos with more cashless payment options. Together, we take one bold step with them in creating a cashless Philippines, which we see happening in the very near future,” said Orlando B. Vea, President and CEO at Maya Philippines.

McDonald’s joins a roster of pioneering companies and merchants that are embracing the cashless revolution with the help of Maya. Today, Maya is the largest online and mobile acquirer in the Philippines, powering card payment acceptance of some of the biggest e-Commerce retailers in the country, including the likes of Lazada, Zalora, Philippine Airlines, and Cebu Pacific, among many others.

Maya is likewise powering the QR payments acceptance capabilities of Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, and shops under the Robinsons Store Specialists, Inc., which include popular brands such as Topshop, Topman, G2000, Dorothy Perkins, and Warehouse.

Maya QR payments are also accepted in all The SM Store and Mall Information Booths nationwide. Merchants in food parks as well as other retail and food chains are also now accepting Maya QR.

Maya Philippines, the country’s pioneer and leader in cashless payments, is the digital financial services arm of PLDT’s Voyager Innovations. To know more about its solutions for merchants and businesses, visit maya.ph/business.
